Design: Watch This Space

Welcome to this exciting new site 😁 There is quite a story to tell about how this came about. Five years ago (almost at the time of writing), Covid 19 swept the world, and at the time I was teaching English at a busy language school in central London. I won't name them, but I'll just tell you that despite the fact that a language school would be one of the most blindingly obvious places for a pandemic virus to be spread, they waited, in their extraordinary wisdom, until the last days of the panic before closing the place down. That's the genius of 💰Corporate💰America💰, folks.

Upshot: I was one of the lucky ones who caught it early on, before there was any testing or any vaccine, and I've been coughing every single morning (plus, on a bad day, afternoon and evening) ever since. It wasn't really sustainable, then, to go back to school after the lockdown ended. I'm still teaching a bit, and I'm available! Read more about that here. But I can't be doing that all day and every day, so there needed to be a transition to something new. And here's what I've been doing. I hope you like it. There were many times before March 2020 when I would look at videos on Facebook or Instagram of people making amazing stuff with epoxy resin, an especial fever dream in the delightful Monday morning transit on the London Underground. The dream started to approach reality over the course of the second Covid lockdown in 2021, when I came back to my hometown and started experimenting with epoxy resin. Epoxy resin is by its very nature a slow art, and learning any new craft requires a lot of trial and error. I still have a lot to learn, and there are many projects which I have in mind, but I hope that you can see something here which you find interesting. I'll try to talk you through my progress in a somewhat chronological order. You can see how a Monday morning fantasy on the Tube evolved into a hobby and a passion which I now hope to make into a sustainable business (as sustainable as one can hope anything to be, that is, in the mad mad mad world which we now live in).

Once this site has been finished up and polished, there will of course be a shop attached, with e-commerce and other things which I have yet to learn, and this "history" page will be relegated to a subordinate position, but to begin with I'll put the story front and centre.
